DMX's MANAGER SHOT IN Y.O.
DMX's Manager, Ray Copeland, was shot in the arm Tuesday night after departing a studio in Yonkers, NY. After being treated in a local hospital, Copeland was released. While an official statement has yet to be released by DMX, anonymous sources have speculated that the shooting may be a retaliation against DMX from Ruff Ryders, his former crew. DMX left Ruff Ryders Entertainment after attempting to gain a part ownership of the multi-million dollar label. Copeland is actively involved with forming DMX's new label, Bloodline Records.
(SEPTEMBER 20, 2000)
1. DMX has signed a deal to make an autobiography, tentively titled "DMX: A Dogz Life". X will team with Smokey D. Fontaine to write about DMX's rise from the projects of Yonkers to his large rapper status he has now. The book is also expected to include prayers X says and random passages taken from his notebook.
2. People are saying that The Lox are dissing Black Rob on their new song off the Backstage Mixtape. Apparently Sheek targeted Black Rob on a few of the songs lines; "You say fuck me, I feel the same way about you bitch, niggaz made you rich and now you act like this." Sheek follows up with "You want space I'll give you a whole hospital room to yourself." That one sounds more like a shot at Black Rob, as Rob's single "Espacio" has him saying "give me space" in Spanish. Not really sure why the two are beefin' but it's well-known that Bad Boy and The Lox have beef. I thought Black Rob and the L-O-X were still cool since they used to record lots of songs together but apparently not. Props to Big D for the news.
(JUNE 18, 2000)
X will be in that new Steven Seagal movie, but he'll also have roles in "Blade 2" and the next "The Crow" movie. Look for X to be busy with movies this summer, I heard he won't even come in for big shows like New York and LA Summer Jam's sponsered by radio stations.
(MAY 23, 2000)
X will team up with Sisqo for the next video from "And Then There Was...X". For the edited version of What "These Bitches Want". It will be called "What Ya Want". The shoot will most likely take place on June 10, 2000. I bed this is a nice video, but i kinda wanted to see D-X-L with my mans LOX and Drag.
(MAY 7, 2000)
DMX Teams with Steven Seagal
DMX has been added to the cast of the upcoming film "Exit Wounds". The movie will star Steven Seagal. The film's plot is based around a cop played by Seagal, who discovers a ring of corrupt officers in his precinct. Seagal goes to war against them and will be aided by DMX. No news of when the movie will come out, but I'll let you know as soon as I find out.
(MAY 3, 2000)
DMX was sentenced to 15 days in jail and slapped with a $350 fine, plus $30 in court fees today (May 3) in a Cheektowaga, N.Y., court after turning himself in to police on an outstanding arrest warrant issued after the rapper skipped a March 23 court date while out on the Ruff Ryders/Cash Money tour.
Simmons, who pleaded guilty to charges of drug possession, driving without a license, and outstanding parking tickets, was later rearrested, charged with possession and fined another $250 after police found marijuana in a cigarette pack while he was being processed. Lawyers for the rapper are appealing the sentence and attempting to have him released pending the outcome of the appeal.
The original charges stem from a March 3 traffic stop, following a concert appearance in nearby Buffalo, N.Y., for failure to signal and speeding. Police discovered Simmons was driving without a license, and also found a small amount of marijuana upon searching his vehicle.
(MARCH 7, 2000)
Well X got arrested for driving without a licence and marijuana posession when he was in Cheektowaga, New York. He was stopped on Kensington Expressway for driving 60 in a 45 mph zone. He didn't have a license, because it has been suspended because he didn't have car insurance. The cops also found some weed in his car. X was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, driving without a license, speeding, failure to signal, unlawful marijuana possession and failure to notify DMV of an address change. He got out on bail for $2,000 the same day he was arrested and a court date was set for March 21.
(FEBRUARY 08, 2000)
Yo X is gonna be on Saturday Night Live tommorow night. Make sure you tape that if you not home.
(JANUARY 14, 2000)
The Ruff Ryders / Cash Money Tour 2000 has been pushed back to the starting date of February 24, 2000 in Rochester, NY and is expected to end on April 10, 2000 in Seattle. Scheduling issues are beleived to be teh cause for the move, though the labels didn't offer a reason for the delay.
(JANUARY 10, 2000)
Yo sorry I stopped updating this section for some reason. I usually just write latest news on front page and then I erase them for some reason. I'll start updating this shit again every time so you can go here and check all the older news.
One-n-One
DECEMBER 17, 1999
In the new BLAZE issue there s a story about "Calling Out Names - Kurupt" and its a whole page. Kurupt talks about why he made the song. And X also comments that he doesn't even know why the song was made. Really stupid by Kurupt, he thinks that X fucked Foxy when Kurupt was going out with her.
DECEMBER 1, 1999
Guess Kurupt is not calling out names after all (cuz he a homo), he did not put the song on his album (cuz he a homo)and is gonna meet up with X to discuss their differences. What A HOMO!!! He know that X would really kill him lyrically and physically, so he backed down.
Thanx to 711 Hip Hop for the above news, tehy are a site thats jsut starting up, tons of news, my boy "s7n" is running that shit (whut up BIATCHHHH!!!) so go to it and show him some love.
NOVEMBER 16, 1999
1. OK finally some MURDER INC. news, DMX, Ja Rule & Jay-Z are scheduled for a January 17, 2000 relase date. This album gotta be off the hook.
2. Drag-On seems to be pushed back from its November 23 relase date, so I'm assuming prob sometime next year, since X comes out On December 21. Im still trying to figure out when LOX will come out, its still supposed to be Novemer 23, but I am not really sure since dates always change nowdays.
OCTOBER 21, 1999
The following is take form CD NOW news:
Antra Music, the Philadelphia-based record label which releases recordings by
rapper Kurupt, among others, has added to the statement it gave to allstar
on Monday (Oct. 18) regarding the studio shooting over the weekend that
took the life of Kurupt's bodyguard and left two other men wounded.
On Monday, the label's statement raised the question as to whether a
finger-pointing song ("Calling Out Names") on Kurupt's upcoming album had
motivated a retaliation which resulted in Sunday (Oct. 17)'s shooting (allstar,
Oct. 18).
But Antra on Tuesday (Oct. 19) issued another statement, declaring that in
no way does the label suspect the involvement of other musicians in the
studio shooting. Antra CEO Joe Marrone, though a label spokesperson,
released the following:
"In the confusion and grief over the recent shooting of colleagues and friends
of Kurupt and Daz on October 18, an Antra staffer was misquoted on the
Internet [Monday]. Although no one at Antra has ever speculated, on or off
the record, the cause of this tragic shooting, we deeply regret that names of
other artists were dragged into this report, and we apologize if unintentionally
anyone at Antra contributed to such speculation." The report he is referring to
is from other online news sites -- not allstar -- which brought up the names
Foxy Brown and DMX.
"All of us with Antra are only concerned with the grief of the family of Dwayne
Dupree and will have no further comment except to express our fervent hope
that there be no more violence in the hip-hop community."
23-year-old Dwayne "Draws" Dupree, a security guard for Kurupt, was
pronounced dead at the scene, outside L.A.'s Echo Sounds studios, from
multiple gunshot wounds.
Two rappers, Jevon "Realistic" Jones and Willard "Act Da Fool" Givers, were
also wounded in the attack and were treated at local hospital and released.
Police have no official motive for the shooting, nor do they yet have any
suspects.
OCTOBER 20, 1999
The following should be credited to Hip Hop Reviewz (http://reviewz.simplenet.com)
I also hope taht it is not true, for DMX's sake.
KURUPT SHOT AT, BODYGUARD KILLED!!!
More violence to hit the rap world? Kurupt and bodyguards were shot at on Sunday night. 23-year-old bodyguard Dwayne
"Draws" Dupree was pronounced dead while Jevon "Realistic" Jones and Willard "Act Da Fool" Giver ended up wounded in
the foot and calf but ended up okay. It went down at about 11:40 when they were all chillin' outside of Echo Sounds, a studio
where Kurupt happened to be working with Daz at. The two bodyguards were good friends of Kurupt and also worked at his
label, ANTRA Music. Everyone is speculating this is about Kurupt's song, "Callin' Out Names," where he cracks on many (east
coast) rappers, including DMX saying that he helped break up Kurupt and Foxy, the now defunct hip hop couple. Don't jump to
conclusions people, though the motive of the shooting hasn't been said. The last thing we need to hip hop beefs to go violent,
hopefully we learned something from Tupac and Biggie's deaths.
OCTOBER 10, 1999
There are reports that The Lox were on Funk Flex’s show and said that their first official Ruff Ryders album "We Are The Streets" will be coming out on November 23. That would put them against Drag-On, so expect one of the two release dates to be changed. They also reportedly played the first single from the album called “Wild Out”.
SPECIAL NEWS SEPTEMBER 17, 1999
SPECAIL NEWS
Kurupt made a song called "Calling Out Names" in which he disses DMX, and the rest of the Ruff Ryders, not Eve thouhg, and I am looking forward to DMX rippin him down very soon. Listen to it on real audio.
SEPTEMBER 21, 1999
1. Drag-On’s album The Opposite of H20 will probobly be delayed to the no earlier than November or December. So far he’s done like 30 tracks, and of those that will make the final cut are 1. “What’s It All About” f/ Parle, “WCW” f/ Jadakiss & Eve & “Down Bottom” f/ Juvenile.
2. The Backstage: Hard Knock Life album will be dropping on October 26. It will feature new cuts from Jay-Z, DMX, Beanie Siegal, Memphis Bleek, Rell, Hot Boys, Big Tymers, Amil, Ja Rule, Eve, Lil’ Cease and more. That cut “Road Dogs” by Jay-Z, Amil & Eve that was found on all those mp3 sites and mixtapes will be on the album.
AUGUST 25, 1999
LOX have finnaly been let go by Puffy, and have officially left Bad Boy. The are planning to sign with Interscope, whick is the label that Drag-On is on and Eve is on, and I think Cross and Inf-Red are also on. So I guess Interscope is gonna be carrying all the Ruff Ryders other than DMX now, and then they have then own Ruff Ryders Records, which is shared by Def Jam and Interscope now. Expect the new LOX album to drop soon now since they have been reporting that it's already recorded, but they did not want to put it out under Bad Boy. This move was expected for a long time now since the LOX have been dissing Bad Boy and Puffy on every radio station nation wide.
AUGUST 19, 1999
DMX has changed the title of his new album scheduled to be released on December 21, 1999. It has been changed from "X: The Man, The Dog, The God" to "DARKER", which I think is a very appropriate name, I like it better at this point, than "X: The Man...." That title should be used on a next album or maybe even later, but now DARKER is a perfect name for his next one.
DMX is also set for an appearance on Babyface's soundtrack for the movie "Light It Up" with a song titled "Catz Don't Know". This soundtrack is scheduled for the October 19 release date on Elektra label. Other artists on the soundtrack are Outkast, Big Pun, Eminem, Master P, 112 etc...
AUGUST 17,1999
I found some news on the tracks that you will be finding on Eve's solo debut album, I guess now titled "Eve: Philly’s First Lady Of Hip Hop", due out September 14. 1999. The album features the tracks: “Let’s Talk About”, “Gotta Man” [this is the first single, I saw the video the other day, it's ok, I think she got a bit chubbier but she still aight, she got a cute face], “Philly, Philly”, “Stuck Up Ain’t Go No”, “Dough”, “Love Is Blind”, “Scenario 2000” f/ DMX, The Lox & Drag-On, this is that song that uses "Jigga My Nigga" beat, I don;t think this is gonna end up on the actual album, might be on a single or something, prob a 12", “One Match”, “What Y’all Want (Remix)”, “Um” and “The First Lady of Ruff Ryders” f/ Missy, DMX, Lox & Drag-On. This LP should be pretty tihgt since Eve is pretty good, my favourite female rapper, I'll prob pick it up when it gets out.
AUGUST 11, 1999
Eve’s album WILL be dropping on September 14. It’s NOT going to be called “Eve Of Destruction”, it’s NOT going to be called “Let There Be Eve” (like it was previosly told), it WILL be called “Eve: The First Lady Of Ruff Ryders.” Tracks for the album include: “Gotta Man”, “Love Is Blind”, “What Ya Want” f/ Nokio and “The First Lady Of Ruff Ryders” f/ Missy Elliott, DMX, The Lox & Drag-On.
AUGUST 4, 1999
DMX will be hitting the studio this month to start work on another album titled X: The Man, The Dog, The God.., I already told you that this was the title. Expect his December 21 release date to stick and Jay-z's album to come out on the 28th. Look for X to be working with his usual partners (Swizz, Ruff Ryders, Jay-Z, maybe Sticky Fingaz, I hope so, etc.). X will also be participating in this years Family Values Tour as well along with Method Man, Redman, Limp Bizkit, and others.
JULY 24, 1999
DMX performed at Woodstock today and he really got the crowd into it nad shit, it was dope. He like did his usual songs and shit and if anyone got any pics and shit that I can have, jsut e-mail me with them. Thanx a lot. "dark_man_x_69@hotmail.com"
JULY 10, 1999
DMX got arrested in Trinidad for swearing on the stage. I don't get this shit and I'm really pissed off about it cuz what the fuck, they all know he gonna say whatever the hell he wants and shit so what the fuck they arresting him him for in concert. They actaully got on the stage anh cuffed him, he got out on bail.
July, 1999
X got arrested as a suspect in a shooting, his uncle and also his money manager or whatever got shot in the foot. They searched X's house and found a unregistered gun, bullet proof vest, drugs, and 14 pitbulls. They took away his fuckin dogs, how can fags do that. He and his wife got out on bail, X for 50 grand and his wife for 3.
APRIL 16
DMX is once again in trouble with the law. DMX was arrested this time for allegedly chasing a man into a building in Yonkers
and punching him several times. According to DMX's lawyer X was protecting his wife from the 27-year-old Norman Brown,
who recieved the beating. The arrest of this also led police to find out that DMX is wanted in Denver for stabbing someone
after a show in the Hard Knock Life Tour. DMX's lawyer says that's bullshit and he hadn't even heard of that incident. X was
released from Westchester County Jail Friday on $105,000 bail which was for both charges.
The beating was described as pretty bad. First DMX punched Norman Brown while he was behind the wheel of his car where
he then chased him from the car to a nearby building where he continued laying the smack down on Brown. Brown was left
with cuts and bruises, nothing major, but DMX was charged with third-degree assault.
Today (April 18) got tons of news:
1. The nest movie DMX is gonna play a role in is called "Fiendz" and also Belly comes out on video on April 20th. The movie "Fiendz" is also gonna have people like Big Pun, Onyx, LA The Darkman, Fat Joe and others in it.
2. The Ruff Ryders compilation drops out on April 27th and you can check out the info on it from a link on my main page. Eve's album drops out some time this summer. Ja Rule is been moved back to June 1, and Drag-On has been scheduled for the summer as well. Kasino will drop out "Life Is A Gamble" on April 27th (same as Ruff Ryders) with appearances from LOX and DMX. DMx will come out with "X: The Dog, The Man, The Guy" around September/October.
3. Murder INC. - I really hope this comes out, For those of you who dont knwo this is Ja, X, and Jay-Z togheter as a group. This should come out just before the summer, but it might never come out unless it is a classic(which I'm sure will be cuz all the shit these three put out is ill, especially when they come togheter. ex. Murdergram off Streets is Waching soundtrack, and It's Murda off of Ja's Venni, Vetti, Vecci) says Irv Gotti. He will produce this along with Swizz, Lil' Rob, Tai, Da Nigga Reb. Irv gotti said "If it isnt a classic, I wont release it". (look for it in the summer) Oh yeah its already 1/3 done so cant wait.
4. DMX has signed with Woddstock Concert (July 23-25 in Rome, NY) to make an appearance with a whole bunch of other artsits, rap artists include Ice Cube and some others, but mostly rock (Marylin Manson too so they might do "The Omen")
5. Speaking of Marylin Manson, Swizz Beatz is doing a remix for him called"I Don't Like The Drugs But The Drugs Like Me" Remix by Marilyn Manson feat. DMX and look out for that I guess.
6. Canibus mentioned that'd he wants to freestyle with DMX again and make something ill like that time with DMX and Noreaga.
OK. This is official. After the RuffRyders compilation drops out, X is following with another album titled "X: The Dog, The Man, The God" coming right from DMX himself. And I am not sure but it seems that Ruff Ryders compilation was moved back to April 6/99
The new video for Slippin' is phat. Check it out on BET, MTV, or MuchMusic in Canada
There are rumors that DMX, Jay-Z, and Ja-Rule are putting out a group album. They are called Murder Inc. They did that song Murdergram on the Streets is Watching soundtrack toghether. Let's hope they do put it out.
The new Ruff Ryders album is coming ot March 23. Can't wait for that. DMX, Drag-on, Eve, LOX, Swiss Beatz and others are on it. DOPE.
OLDER LATEST NEWS
The new album is here entitled "Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood" and yo it is hot, definet satisfaction. Everyone of you should get it. So check the "Flesh Of...." page for more info.
New DMX Album Prompted By Looming Sale Of Def Jam Records
Although DMX's debut, "It's Dark & Hell Is Hot," is still faring well on the "Billboard" album charts -- holding its own at number 33 after seven months on store shelves, the rapper is already set to release his second album. The reason behind the incredibly quick turn-around time between DMX's two records has only recently become clear - and involves his label, Def Jam, which is on the verge of being bought out. As a result, the label is trying to clear as many finished records from its vaults, and has launched a No Limit-like release schedule, with albums from Redman, DJ Clue and FoxyBrown all due out by mid-January. As for DMX, the canine crusader will release "Blood of My Blood, Flesh of My Flesh," with appearances from Jay-Z, the Lox, Mary J. Blige and Marilyn Manson, on December 22, while the first single from the record is entitled "Slippin'."
It was only this past May when hardcore rapper DMX's debut album, "It's Dark & Hell Is Hot" shot to number one in its first week. Now, after embarking on his first nationwide tour and starring in his first film, the man with an affinity for canines and violent imagery will be releasing yet another record on December 22.
Entitled "Blood of My Blood, Flesh of My Flesh," the album's cover art depicts DMX soaking in a blood bath, but despite the stomach-turning shot, the record's first single,"Slippin'," is actually a laid back rap reminiscent of his current hit with Faith Evans, "How's It Goin' Down." Only a few guest artists turn up on the album, as Jay-Z and the Lox appear on a track called "Blowout," Mary J. Blige guests on "Comin' From," and new glam shaman Marilyn Manson chimes in on, fittingly enough, "Omen." Fans can also catch footage of DMX from this past summer's Survival of the Illest tour, which also features sets from Onyx and the Def Squad, when a home video documenting the hip-hop outing arrives in stores on December 8.
Belly
DMX recenlty had a movie out titled "Belly" starring him and Nas. The soundtrack to the movie is also out, and you should definetely check it out. It includes the hit "Grand Finale" by DMX, Method Man, Nas & Ja, it also features songs by Ja, Wu-Tang, Bravehearts, Reakwon, Noreaga, Mya, Sparkle, Made Men, The Lox, Jay-Z, Memphis Bleek, D'Angelo, Jerome, Hot Totti, Drag-on, Half-A-Mil, Sauce Money and many more.
Ozzy, DMX, Crystal Method Meeting Up In "South Park"
Perhaps the only thing that could pull together metal godfather Ozzy Osbourne,
hardcore rapper DMX, and big beat techno wizards the Crystal Method is the cultural force known as "South Park." During an interview this week with colleagues in the MTV Radio Network, the Crystal Method's Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan discussed what has the makings of one of the oddest musical collaborations of recent memory. "We're going into the studio later today and hopefully he'll show up," Kirkland joked of DMX's involvement in the project. "DMX is supposed to come in and rap over top of 'Vapor Trail,' and then on Wednesday out there on the West Coast, Ozzy is supposed to come in and sing the choruses. So it's Ozzy, DMX, the Crystal Method together again for the very first time." While the animated residents of TV's "South Park" deserve some credit for making the unlikely summit happen, a good chunk of credit must also go to producer and American Recordings head Rick Rubin. "Rick Rubin is behind this whole thing," Kirkland explained. "When he was first given the idea of DMX or Ice Cube or someone rapping over the top of 'Vapor Trail,' he was like, 'Yeah, how about we'll get Ozzy to come in and sing the choruses,' and we were like, 'Yeah, that makes complete sense right there.' Apparently Rubin knew what we was talking about. Ozzy is scheduled to lay down his vocals for the track this week.
DMX, Jay-Z, WC To Pay Respects For "Gangster" Soundtrack
DMX, Jay-Z and WC from the Westside Connection have all been made offers they
apparently couldn't refuse, and will contribute songs to the upcoming soundtrack for the film "Black Gangster." An adaptation of a book by Donald Goines, the author of the late Tupac Shakur referred to as his "father figure" in the song "All Eyez on Me," the motion picture will detail the rise of one crimelord from street thug to that of a professional gangster. Other artists coming out for the "Gangster" soundtrack include Mic Geronimo, The Life (formerly Thug Life), Ja-Rule and Darcsyde. The film and accompanying album are due to be released sometime in the late-winter or early-spring of next year.
DNA Clears DMX
Rapper DMX was cleared of sex
charges Thursday after DNA tests revealed that his semen didn't match that found at the crime scene. DMX was arrested in June on charges of rape, sodomy, and unlawful imprisonment. Upon learning of the charges leveled against him, the rapper turned himself in to authorities, was released on bail & maintained his innocence throughout the entire process. His accuser was a 29-year-old exotic dancer, who alleges that she left a nightclub with DMX on June 13 to give him a private dance at a friend's apartment. Once there, she says she was attacked. During a press conference, DMX once again proclaimed his innocence in the affair, and said he hoped to get on with his career.
